LaShanda+Matt+Jaiden: Engagement & Family pictures

I met with LaShanda late last year to discuss her vow renewal, and I have been looking forward to shooting with her and her husband, Matt, ever since! They are such a chill couple, and LaShanda claims to be “one of the guys” around the house (Although you couldn’t tell from the way she rocked those perfect black pumps during the shoot!)

We began the shoot at the Centennial Gardens, and little Jaiden was attached to Matt at the hip. (No better role model than a good dad) ;) We wanted to take a number of pictures featuring the couple, so Jaiden became my second shooter and captured all the Behind the Scenes shots- Thanks, Jaiden! After a quick costume change, the four of us headed to Hermann Park next door.. this area is full of great photo opportunities- I’m so grateful for this city!

Mom (Beverly) wanted pictures of her with her daughters for Christmas, and these girls pulled together to make it happen! It was a bit “brisk” out this day, but our scenic location seemed to make it all worth the blustery breeze. Most people bribe their kids with “ipad time” or cookies, but the rewards change slightly with adult children… Beverly talked about margaritas after the shoot!

‘Tis the season for family pictures! I always get a few requests for large family photo sessions around the holidays- everyone is in town visiting, and it is the perfect opportunity to get the whole crew behind the camera. I drove up to Pinehurst the day after Christmas and shot with the Harris family; I loved seeing their family dynamic- funny and so different!

This is honestly one of the nicest families I have had the pleasure to photograph! The kids were polite, the parents were calm and in good spirits… all wonderful ingredients for a successful family photo shoot. :) I love how, despite being dressed up, Dena encouraged her kids to explore and investigate the nature surrounding us. The Houston Arboretum may not have been as green as it was the last time the family visited, but I think it still felt magical and was full of great photo spots!

It was a bit chillier than we expected for this morning shoot in the park, but Casey came prepared with a few clothing choices- and more than a few baby items to incorporate into the session! I loved all the options- sentimental and personal touches made the shoot so individualized and special. :)
